The 50-year-old actor decided to portray co-star Jason Bateman and his wife, Amanda Anka, at a Regency Village Theater event.

Air, which tells the story of the rise of the sneaker brand Air Jordan, is directed by Penn who also plays Phil Knight, the co-founder of Nike.

At the premiere, Ben pulls a series of smiley faces behind Jason and Amanda, leaning in on Jason looking serious and also smiling as he stands between them.

He left his friend amused by his stunt and then stuck out his tongue while Ben continued to make cameos in red carpet shots with his wife.

In the end, Ben, Jason, and Amanda even posed for a photo together as they all burst out laughing after the previous shout-outs.

The first trailer for the star-studded Ben and Matt movie was released last month.

The shoes were made for former basketball player Michael Jordan during his stint with the Chicago Bulls in 1984 and were introduced to the public in 1985.

The Promo Air Trailer opens with Damon playing sports executive Sonny Vaccaro as he hears about how sales and growth in Nike’s basketball division are trending downward.

He was later called into the office of Nike founder Phil Knight (Affleck) where he spoke sternly with him.

This followed Howard White (Chris Tucker) and George Raveling (Marlon Wayans) telling Vaccaro that no one likes Nike shoes.

When discussing a new idea with his boss (Batman) about getting individual players to sponsor, Vaccaro is told he needs a very compelling pitch.

“I can tell them the one thing other companies can’t compete with,” says Vaccaro. “Our basketball department is terrible.”

His boss replies sarcastically: “I don’t like him.”

Vaccaro then watches several tapes looking for the perfect player to collaborate with before finding one and showing it to Bateman’s character.

Who is this Jesus? He can’t afford it,” Vaccaro replies.

Damon then drives up and shows up unannounced at the home of an older couple (Davis and Julius Tennon) who seem suspicious of his intentions.

The trailer shows a montage, emphasized by Vaccaro, a strong plea for Knight about signing an upstart to be one of the biggest faces of the brand.

In the montage, he is playing in a casino and can be seen losing but picks up the dice again and gives him another chance.

Knight can then be heard asking about their plan with Vaccaro replying, “We’re building a shoe line just around it.”

Vaccaro tells the designer that he needs “the greatest basketball shoe ever made,” and when asked who it is, he replies, “Michael Jordan,” in steely fashion.

During an encounter with Davies’ character, Jordan Delores’ mother, Vaccaro tells her “I believe in your son”. I think it’s the future. And his story will make us want to fly. But a shoe is just a shoe.

“Until my son steps in,” she says again as the man runs red and white sneakers in his hands.

The trailer ends with a funny scene where Nate asks Vaccaro if he has a name for the shoe. Vaccaro tells him the name is Air Jordan, and Knight makes a face.

‘seriously?’ Vaccaro asks upon seeing the face, to which Knight replies, “Maybe it will grow on me.”

The air will be shown in cinemas on April 5.
