Jennifer Lopez did not give up easily on her marriage to Ben Affleck.
The Let’s Get Loud singer, 55, spent months trying to save her relationship but ultimately couldn’t get over the “darkness” in him.
“She loves him, she will always love him, that’s the problem,” said a source close to the Wedding Planner actress. Page six.
“Ben has a darkness that no one can fix. Jen Garner couldn’t fix it, all the success in the world couldn’t fix it,” the source continued.
J-Lo was reportedly hoping Ben would show up to her Bridgerton-themed 55th birthday party in the Hamptons, but he didn’t.

“She truly believed this was the greatest love story she had ever known and that she was finally getting her chance at a fairy tale,” the source said.
The source added: “She didn’t really stop to consider who the fairy tale man really was.”
The Marry Me star filed for divorce from the Argo director earlier this week on the second anniversary of their wedding in 2022.
The divorce petition revealed their separation date was April, but even after Ben moved out of her $68 million Beverly Hills mansion, Lopez didn’t give up.
“She gave everything she had, her whole heart. She would have done anything to make this work,” the outlet reported.
“She exposed herself to criticism, ridicule and countless detractors telling her it was a bad idea, that it was doomed to fail, that there was a reason it didn’t work the first time,” the source said.
“But she didn’t want to believe it. She really believed that love would conquer all.”
Jennifer broke her silence on social media on Friday, posting for the first time since filing for divorce.
Instead of sharing new content, the singer reposted a selfie on her Instagram Story that she took previously and had been shared by a fan account.

The former couple began dating in 2002 after meeting on the set of the film Gigli, and quickly became engaged.
But they separated in 2004, just before becoming husband and wife.
They both married other people (she exchanged vows with Mac Anthony in 2004, while he married Jennifer Garner in 2005), but after splitting from their respective partners, they eventually got back together.
They rekindled their love in 2021 and tied the knot in Las Vegas in July 2022.
