Ben Affleck wowed fans by speaking fluent Spanish during a recent interview for a radio network in Spain – prompting his followers to rename him ‘Benito’.
Followers hailed the Oscar-winning actor, 50, for his “excellent articulation and flow” as he spoke with La Cadena SER about the new film Air — with many baffled by the bilingual actor’s newfound clear grasp of language.
However, the Argo star’s Spanish skills were actually acquired when he was just 13 years old and he filmed in Mexico for a year.
He previously said on The Kelly Clarkson Show in 2020: “I speak negatively about her. I did this kid’s TV series when I was young and when I was 13, the season that year (it was filmed) was in Mexico, so I was in Mexico for a year and that’s how I picked it up.

He said, “What is important to understand is that this is not the story of Michael Jordan, and Michael Jordan also does not appear in the movie.
It’s too big, too important, too cool — no actor in the world can lead audiences to believe, look, it’s Michael Jordan.
Immediately, they’ll think, ‘This is all ridiculous. It’s a *** movie. I do not believe that. And it completely destroys[the film].
Fans on social media quickly jumped in to express their amazement at his language skills and were joking that the star’s dialogue was “better than his acting.”
“Switching from Ben to Benito,” one fan wrote, while another wrote: “Oh my God, his Spanish is better than his acting.” “
Another penned: “So he speaks Spanish better than Jennifer Lopez?” While another wrote: “Is Ben Mexican” and “Why does he look Cuban?”
“I love his Spanish, his flow is excellent, his pronunciation,” one fan wrote.
Another wrote: “(It is) an example of how to get respect from the Spanish-speaking communities and promote your movie. Something other artists should do.

Ben also has plenty of opportunities to nail his Spanish at home, along with his wife, J-Lo, who is fluent in Spanish.
The actor teamed up with longtime friend Matt Damon to make the biographical sports drama Air, and Ben has now revealed that he enjoys working with Matt, 52.
Ben — who directed the movie and also plays Nike co-founder Phil Knight — recently told IndieWire, “I love and trust Matt so much, and it’s been great working together.”
It was like a feeling, I want other actors to feel (that too). Like, “Come on, it’s all good, I love the actors, I love you, you’ll be fine, everyone, take the time you want, do what you want to do and respect the show of that energy.”
Ben and Matt rose to international prominence in 1997, when they co-wrote the award-winning Good Will Hunting.
On this occasion, Matt enjoyed being directed by his friend in the entertainment business.
He said: Honestly, it was kind of a natural succession. We’ve written, produced, and worked on a bunch of movies together for many years and decades, so we didn’t feel any different, working this way.
