Below Deck Down Under: Captain Lee Rosbach is ‘mortified’ by Luke Jones and Laura Bileskalne’s ‘despicable’ behavior after their firing for sexual misconduct

Date:

Below Deck captain Lee Rosbach has shared his perspective on the ‘despicable’ conduct of stars Luke Jones and Laura Bileskalne, recently fired from Below Deck Down Under.

Rosbach, who directed the original Below Deck reality series before being fired ahead of the show’s 11th season, admitted he was “mortified” after watching the episode in question while speaking with us weekly.

“His behavior was despicable,” the 73-year-old captain said, after Below Deck Mediterranean’s Captain Sandy Yawn spoke approvingly about resolving the conflict. ‘Both. And I’m sure they will pay the price for it for a long time to come. As they should.

On Monday, back-to-back episodes of the reality series, which follows the crew and guests aboard a superyacht sailing around Australia, featured disturbing scenes in which Luke, the bosun, stripped naked and climbed on the bed of the third stewardess Margot Sisson while intoxicated after the ship’s power went out.

The producers of the reality show intervened and then fired him, while Laura was also fired after she stood up for him.

His defense led chief flight attendant Aesha Scott to claim that Laura had made unwanted advances towards Adam Kodra, and after questioning by Captain Jason Chambers, he confirmed that Laura had made him uncomfortable.

Chambers also fired Laura, who subsequently shared an apology with both Adam and Margot.

After watching the drama episodes, Captain Lee said he was “impressed” with the conduct of Captain Jason and Aesha, as well as how the show’s producers intervened after the sexual misconduct was observed.

He praised the two leaders for “not getting nervous” and “quietly” defusing the situation and applying the punishment.

As far as Captain Lee was concerned, Captain Jason “absolutely” made the right decision, though he did wonder if he could have kept as cool a head if he had been in the same situation.

“I don’t know if he would have had the wherewithal to remain as calm as Captain Jason did, but he certainly stepped up and did well,” he said approvingly.

Captain Lee also claimed that he had never seen his crew members engage in non-consensual sexual behavior, for which he said he was “grateful.”

“It’s a tough place to be,” he continued. ‘When the captain is there, you are responsible for everything that happens. Jason handled it magnificently.

Captain Lee fully agreed with fans who praised Aesha and Captain Jason, saying the reaction was “justified.”

“Everybody stepped up and did the right thing at the right time and didn’t let anything get out of hand,” he said. ‘He didn’t put it in the background, he didn’t cover it up. They just treated him appropriately.

He also shared his ‘best wishes’ with Margot and Adam after they were put in difficult positions.

“I have nothing but respect for (them) and I certainly feel sorry for both of them because neither of them deserved to be in that position.”

Monday’s shocking episode showed a naked Luke climbing on top of Margot, without her permission, while she was sleeping in bed.

“Luke, we have to put you down,” a production crew member implored when he was interrupted. ‘I have to get you out of here because she wants to go to bed.’

The drunken Luke went on a rampage and yelled, ‘Can you fuck off for a second?’

Once she realized the camera crew wasn’t going to back down, she made her way to her own room and locked herself in.

Aesha sprang into action and contacted Margot before updating the captain.

After Captain Jason learned of the situation, he unlocked Luke’s cabin and kicked him off the boat to stay in a hotel for the night before seeing him off the next morning.

Laura didn’t do herself a favor when she talked to Margot later that morning and tried to defend Luke.

In one particularly awkward moment, she even joked that she wished he had appeared naked on her bed like that, though she didn’t seem to take Margot’s lack of consent into consideration.

When word of the interaction reached Captain Jason, he fired her as well, as she too had tried to give Adam a massage despite his asking her not to.

Although Laura publicly apologized to both Margot and Adam, Luke was much more defiant in a social media post that he later deleted.

He wrote that he did not “care” what viewers thought of him and the situation, as he suggested that what was being broadcast on television was the result of manipulative editing and “was not the truth”.
