Djamel Belmadi, coach of Algeria, admitted the difficulty of the task that awaits his team against Niger on Monday in Tunisia in the fourth round of the African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Algeria achieved a difficult and important victory over Niger 2-1 last Thursday at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Baraki, Algiers, in the third round of the tournament qualifiers, which will be held in Ivory Coast next January.
Algeria leads Group F with nine points from three matches and needs only a draw in the match to qualify for next year’s finals, while Tanzania comes in second place with four points, Niger with two points in third place, while Uganda is at the bottom of the standings with one point.
Belmadi said before the Algerian mission left Houari Boumediene International Airport on Sunday in the direction of Tunisia: I say it and repeat it, there is no easy meeting in Africa. They watched Ghana vs Angola and even Cameroon drew Namibia.
Belmadi stressed the need to work hard in training in anticipation of the Niger match and upcoming matches.
He added: For this we must work seriously. Unfortunately, the issue of new players took up 75% of the previous press conference, and we did not talk about Niger. We must respect all teams.
The match will be held in Tunis, after the African Union (CAF) refused to approve playing in Niger.
