Becky Lynch opens up on rekindling relationship with Charlotte Flair after on-screen fall-out… and explains why she never faced UFC legend Ronda Rousey one-on-one

Becky Lynch has a habit of getting her ticket to WrestleMania when she really needs it and she has another chance to do so at the Elimination Chamber on Saturday in Perth, Australia.

Rhea Ripley has dominated the top of Monday Night RAW since WrestleMania 39 last April after dethroning Charlotte Flair in Los Angeles. Of course, Flair and Lynch aren’t just linked by the proverbial thorn in their side that is Ripley, but they were best friends who made their way into WWE alongside Bayley and Sasha Banks, forming the groundbreaking group The Four Horsewomen.

However, their relationship appeared to come to a head when they exchanged titles following a brand split in 2021. A bitter departure from their previously inseparable union covered the news and remained frosty in the years that followed.

In late 2023, the pair faced off on the same Survivor Series team within War Games, and after a victorious effort, their joy at the post-show press conference was the definition of royal. Elated by their performance, but happier by their rekindled friendship.

speaking to sport mail In Perth before Elimination Chamber, Lynch admitted that shedding the weight of their disagreements was a great feeling.

‘It was not nice?’ Lynch said talking about their press conference together. ‘Look, I think Charlotte and I are always going to be butting heads, right? Because we both want to be the best and with that it is difficult to have an eternal symbiotic relationship.

‘But it was nice. Animosity, especially over a long period of time, starts to weigh on you and starts to get heavy and it’s nice to have a break from that.

But you can’t get too much out of it. This is the wrestling man. “We are selling good things, we are selling conflicts.”

Lynch became the first woman to win a WrestleMania main event against Flair and UFC legend Ronda Rousey in the 35th edition of the event. At one point, along with The Rock vs. Roman Reigns, Lynch vs. Rousey was considered the biggest money match in wrestling. So why did it never happen?

“I guess at the end of the day, I was still able to win the main event of WrestleMania, be the first woman to win the main event of WrestleMania,” Lynch reflected.

‘Do I think that was the game everyone was clamoring for? Yes it was. Everyone wanted that singles match. And I think people thought that moment would be everlasting and it wasn’t. That’s fine too.

‘I think you can’t force things when they’re not there and I think we see that with what’s currently happening with the product.

‘For years, everyone wanted The Rock vs Roman Reigns, but it’s not the time for that now. Everyone wants Roman vs Cody (Rhodes).

‘Some things have their seasons and we didn’t have that season. If he ever comes back, maybe that season will be there. Maybe it’s spring again in that story, but it never came back to that.
