“I do an all-over tan before I spray on so I get the perfect amount of tan,” the Canadian actress, now based in Los Angeles, told her 1.1 million followers.

Many commenters were confused about why to apply makeup before having the treatment, as it is usually against the rules and is said to ruin the tan.
“Guys, the face tans much easier, so the tan is less. Makeup is a barrier to some of the tan,” one commenter explained.
“If you spray tan without makeup, it always ends up too dark. If you put makeup on first, it looks perfect,” said another person.
One woman shared her own trick, which involves “wiping the spray tan off my face immediately every time I’m done and just blending my foundation into my body.”
One person said the key is to “wear a hairnet over your face.”
But Natalia Radosz, owner of a professional spray tanning salon Shine to go In New York, FEMAIL warned that this hack could end in disaster.
“Applying a full layer of makeup before spray tanning will cause most of the tan to disappear immediately after your first shower,” Natalia told DailyMail.com.
“Makeup creates a barrier, so your tan may completely fade or look patchy after your first shower,” Natalia warned.
