Bearded Bobby Cannavale goes shirtless while relaxing in an infinity pool in Nine Perfect Strangers behind-the-scenes footage
Nine Perfect Strangers is one of the hottest shows on television right now.
And in behind-the-scenes footage of the series, protagonist Bobby Cannavale cooled off in an infinity pool.
Images of the bearded actor, 51, lounging in the tub, were shared this week with co-star Melissa McCarthy’s Instagram account.

Melissa played a game where she filmed her co-stars and asked them to name nine different strangers.
Bobby named political philosopher and activist Noam Chomsky, agricultural magnate Frank Perdue, soccer coach Nick Saban, CNN host Wolf Blitzer, singer Bette Midler and comedian Tig Notaro.
Melissa and Bobby both star in Nine Perfect Strangers alongside A-listers like Nicole Kidman and Asher Keddie.
“It addresses some of the biggest existentialist questions,” Nicole told the Associated Press of the series.

‘What is reality? In which place can you choose to exist? Can we change that? Is there another reality we have access to that might be a more desirable reality?’
The Hulu limited series is definitely ambitious, focusing on nine troubled people attending a remote wellness retreat in Northern California. Kidman plays Masha, the mysterious guru of the spa who has an unusual method of treatment with psychedelics.
Strangers include a hapless novelist, a former soccer star, a bored couple, a divorcee boiling with rage, a mysterious gay man and three members of a family mourning the loss of a fourth.

Their 10-day retreat is told over eight episodes – like an Agatha Christie-style parlor mystery mashed up with a grown-up ‘The Breakfast Club’.
The series was adapted by David E. Kelley and John Henry Butterworth from Liane Moriarty’s 2018 novel of the same name.
The cast of the show is impressive, with McCarthy, Cannavale, Regina Hall, Samara Weaving and Michael Shannon in the ensemble.
“I loved that it had so many characters that I thought were so three-dimensional,” said McCarthy, who plays the novelist.

“They were complicated and people are messy. And I thought that’s how real people are. I don’t know perfect people. I wouldn’t know how to play someone perfect.’
Some of the issues the series addresses include addiction, the warping influence of social media, emotional suppression, impostor syndrome, and the complicated nuances of grief. The nine visitors – as well as the spa staff, including Masha – are in pain in one way or another.
‘What would you do to take the pain away? How far would you go?’ asks Kidman. “Those questions are very interesting to me, especially when they are asked in an entertaining form.”
