The former SAS soldier and survival expert is currently in Costa Rica alongside former This Morning star Holly Willoughby to host the reality competition show which will see celebrities go head to head in the jungle.
Topless Grylls, 49, wearing a navy blue swimsuit, appeared on the beach in Guanacaste province with a friend and her son Jesse, 20, after a day preparing for the television show .
The star, who is staying in a seaside hotel which can cost up to £531 a night, walked along the beach before diving into the Pacific Ocean to wash off the mud covering his hands, face and chest.

Grylls was seen last week paragliding over a black sand beach while his eldest son Jesse, who is a musician, parachuted solo over the coast.
The action man was also seen nearly naked on the palm tree-lined beach as he enjoyed the £55 beach massage, wearing nothing but a towel around his waist.
Since arriving in Costa Rica in late April, Grylls had been receiving regular massages at the beachside salon after discovering it while looking for locations earlier this year.
