Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson, 81, ‘suffering from dementia’ as his touring company seeks to put him under conservatorship… weeks after singer’s wife Melinda died

Legendary Beach Boys singer and mastermind Brian Wilson is reportedly suffering from dementia.

A representative for the touring company that represents the 81-year-old performer, one of the most acclaimed composers of the 20th century, said in a court filing that Wilson suffers from a “significant neurocognitive disorder (such as dementia).’ according to documents obtained Thursday by The explosion.

In the filing, the hitmaker’s team requests that a conservatorship be established for the legendary musician to help deal with the alleged condition.

The news about Wilson’s condition comes after he suffered tragedy late last month when his wife Melinda died aged 77.

The musician has a decades-long history of mental health issues and has struggled with substance abuse in the past, which the touring company cites as reasons why he would allegedly be unable to care for himself as his condition deteriorates. .

Wilson’s touring company says in its filing that he is currently being treated for dementia.

“The (proposed) ward does NOT have the capacity to provide informed consent for the administration of medications appropriate for the care and treatment of significant neurocognitive disorders (including dementia),” it states.

“The assessed deficits in mental function…significantly impair the (proposed) ward’s ability to understand and appreciate the consequences of consenting to the administration of medications for the care and treatment of significant neurocognitive disorders,” the company added.

He also stated that Wilson is unable to attend hearings on the matter “due to medical incapacity.”
