BBC presenter who sipped a hot drink while visiting the hair salon IS BLOWED by social media users

Sophie’s choice … a cut and ‘coffee’: BBC presenter who sipped a hot drink during her hair salon visit is BLAZED by social media users – but did she break the guidelines?

  • Sophie Raworth visited Richard Ward’s salon in Sloane Square, central London
  • Employee wore personal protective equipment including a surgical style mask while doing Sophie’s hair
  • Host, 52, shared a moment online that sparked a discussion about her coffee

Good evening and here’s the news – I finally had a haircut after four months of lockdown.

Sophie Raworth reveals a great breaking story – her first PPE-protected trip to a salon.

But any relief the BBC presenter felt could not be seen behind her sensible mask.

Miss Raworth, 52, posted a photo on social media yesterday after an appointment at Richard Ward’s salon in Sloane Square, central London, where cleaning, condition, cut and finish can cost up to £ 225.

Behind her was an employee wearing personal protective equipment, including a visor and a surgical-style mask.

But online commentators got a scoop on what seemed to be Miss Raworth’s coffee.

One follower tweeted, “I thought drinking drinks was not allowed unless the water was in disposable cups or bottles?”

According to government guidelines for hair salons, restrictions on food and drink were “normally necessary” after Saturday’s reopenings.

It said, “Do not allow food or drink in the salon to be consumed by customers other than water in disposable cups or bottles.”

But it is clear that the guidance is open to interpretation, and it is not suggested that Miss Raworth or the salon broke any law.

A spokesman for Richard Ward’s salons said, “We have a fully licensed bar and a dedicated barista.”
