Kimberley Walsh has announced she will be taking an extended break from BBC Morning Live ahead of some “interesting business”.

The presenter, 42, revealed she will be away from the show for ‘a while’ as she shared a series of behind-the-scenes snaps with her co-stars.

Kimberley, who rose to fame alongside Cheryl Tweedy, Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts in Girls Aloud, will go on tour in May and June with the band in recognition of the 21 years since they and the late Sarah Harding won Popstars: The Rivals .

Announcing the news on Friday, the singer explained: ‘Last Morning Live for a while as I have some business to attend to.

‘What a fabulous series so far and I always love sharing the studio with so many amazing women (and Geth). Happy International Women’s Day.’

This week Girls Aloud shared three unreleased songs with the late Sarah Harding, three years after her tragic death from cancer at age 39.

To commemorate their 20th anniversary, the group reissued their acclaimed 2004 album What Will The Neighbors Say? with songs never heard before.

They include Disco Bunny, Baby When You Go, as well as their cover of Chris Isaak’s 1991 classic Wicked Game, the latter of which was due to be released as a single in 2005 before being replaced by their song Long Hot Summer.

The album, which was the group’s second, included hit singles such as Jump, Love Machine and I’ll Stand By You.

Cheryl revealed the group had been discussing reunion plans but put the idea on hold when Sarah, who died in September 2021, was diagnosed with breast cancer.

The group plans to use the tour to “celebrate” their late friend.

Cheryl added: “But now I think there’s an energy that makes it feel good.” It’s the right time to celebrate Sarah, it’s the right time to celebrate the band and the right time to celebrate the fact that we can still do this 21 years later. “It is a great honor in many ways.”
