A platoon of new actors has been set up to fill in for the legendary company Dad & # 39; s Army when three lost episodes of the famous comedy are shot again, almost 50 years after they were originally filmed.
The new cast is led by Kevin McNally, who appeared in the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies and many TV dramas.
He has been signed to play dithering Captain Mainwaring – the part made famous by Arthur Lowe in the original TV series, which ran from 1968 to 1977.

Joining McNally will be Robert Bathurst (or Cold Feet and the reputation of Downton Abbey) who will take on the role of Silver-tongued Sergeant Wilson, originally played by John Le Mesurier.
It is not Bathurst's first look at Le Mesurier. He portrayed the actor in the BBC television film Hattie, about the second wife of Le Mesurier, Hattie Jacques.
Veteran star Bernard Cribbins, who is celebrating his 90th birthday next month, has been persuaded to play Private Godfrey, a part originally taken by Arnold Ridley.
Cribbins' career has lasted more than 70 years, and he starred in countless films and TV shows including The Wombles (which he told) and The Railway Children. Several other actors are on the list for the new look at the old episodes, including Gavin & Stacey star Mathew Horne, who is currently touring in Rain Man with Ed Speleers.

The three Dad & # 39; s Army shows were lost decades ago when BBC engineers took over. Originally aired in 1969, they were part of the second series about the fictional Walmington-on-Sea Home Guard, created in 1968 by David Croft and Jimmy Perry.
The episodes – The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Walker, A Stripe For Frazer and Under Fire – will be filmed by UKTV for the Gold satellite channel early in the new year.

The best of . . . is organized by Hugh Wooldridge who led the Night Of 1,000 Voices at the Royal Albert Hall for 19 years. He told me that he decided to renew the format. & # 39; This year it's rock, and we're doing the show at a rock location. Next year is The Best Of. . . Hollywood. & # 39;
Stephane Anelli, Victoria Serra, Richard Carson, Natalie Hope and Rebecca Bernice Amissah, who are an important part of the casting of director Joseph Pitcher's production of the great Frank Loesser, Abe Burrows and Jo Swerling musical Guys And Dolls, who will run at the Mill in Sonning in Berkshire for a 14-week season from November 23rd.
I missed the recent Royal Albert Hall concert version, so I hope I can find time to see this show, which has some of the best songs written for the theater.
