Lucas Hernandez is working diligently and intensively on his comeback. Bayern’s defensive star is still suffering from the consequences of a cruciate ligament rupture, which he suffered while wearing the jersey for the French national team in the World Cup match against Australia. Before the important Champions League game of his Munich team at Manchester City on Tuesday evening (9:00 p.m.), Hernandez now commented.
“It’s a difficult game, but I hope we win. And also here in Munich next week. Then we’ll go full throttle into the semi-finals!” The 27-year-old told FC Bayern club media.
The convalescent stayed at home on Säbener Strasse and worked individually again on Tuesday at FC Bayern’s training ground. He will therefore follow his teammates’ appearance in the quarter-finals at English champions ManCity from home.
Hernandez dreams of a timely return
Hernandez, who won the premier class in late summer 2020 in his first season at FC Bayern, is far from finished with the competition.
With a smile on his face, the 2018 French world champion formulated his ideal idea for a comeback this season: “If everything goes well and we reach the final, then maybe I’ll be back,” said the defender, who was without in November suffered a serious knee injury due to the impact of an opponent and had to have an operation.
