A Bayern Munich fan died following a medical emergency during their Champions League victory over Benfica on Wednesday night, the club confirmed.
The fan died while being taken to hospital after needing treatment in the stands just three minutes after the start of the match at the Allianz Arena.
The Sudkurve fans, the most vocal support section, refrained from singing or chanting for most of the match out of respect for their fellow supporters.
The fan was taken off on a stretcher approximately half an hour after the match started after being treated by paramedics and police.
Harry Kane set up Jamal Musiala for the only goal of the game after 67 minutes, and although that goal was celebrated, the atmosphere was calm.
