Lars Gustavsson, former Creative Director of the Battlefield series, has announced the opening of a new game development studio under the name TTK Games It is an acronym for Time To Kill Games or it’s time to kill games 🙄..
Co-founded by four EA DICE veterans, the studio is based in Stockholm, Sweden and states that it has received significant funding along with creative freedom to develop and work on its own projects. The studio is currently working on the next generation of team shooters.
The TTK Games executive served as DICE’s chief creative officer for 22 years, where he was known as “Mr Battlefield,” having helped shape the series from its inception until his departure last year amid a major studio shakeup.
Daniel Berlin, who worked as a Far Cry 3 designer at Ubisoft, worked his way up as Design Director at TTK Studio after spending nearly 10 years at DICE, where he worked on several Battlefield titles as Design Director. We also have CTO and studio art director Vidar Nygren who spent 25 years at DICE, was responsible for the development of the Frostbite engine and most recently served as CTO.
Art Director Peter Howells has worked at DICE for 12 years, contributing to several Battlefield games and serving as Art Director at DICE LA Studio.
It seems that here we have very big names in the industry entering into one studio, which indicates a great confidence to work on a huge shooter game. Also, choosing the name Time To Kill Games (TTK Games) may indicate how confident this veteran team is in the strength of their next project.
Meanwhile witness a series Battlefield is a clear decline in its popularity due to the different orientation of the series that appeared in its recent parts. But EA, the publisher of the game, promised to reformulate the series and return the game to its glory through the next part, which has not been officially revealed yet.
Perhaps the departure of all these great minds from the DICE studio is a major reason for the deterioration of the series to this level, so the question remains about how EA can revive it again!
