Kevin Conroy, the voice actor who played the voice of Batman in multiple animated shows, has died. He was 66 years old.
The actor’s publicist says Kevin passed away Thursday after a “brief battle with cancer.”
The news was announced in a statement Friday from the actor’s co-star, Diane Pershing, who provides the voice of Poison Ivy, who wrote “Sad news: Our beloved voice of Batman, Kevin Conroy, passed away yesterday.”

Conroy’s co-stars spoke fondly of their friend in an obituary released by publicist Gary Meriano.
Mark Hamill, who played The Joker opposite Conroy’s Batman, paid tribute to his friend, saying, “Kevin was perfect.”

Batman: Conroy began providing the voice of Batman/Bruce Wayne in the acclaimed Batman: The Animated Series in 1992 and has gone on to play a role in several spin-offs in the DC Universe

He continued, “He was one of my favorite people on the planet, and I loved him like a brother. He really cared about the people around him – his decency shone through in everything he did. Every time I saw him or spoke to him, my spirits were high.”
The Star Wars star declared his sidekick to be “the ultimate Batman…just the right guy for the exact right part,” adding, “He will always be my Batman.”
