Barry Keoghan has broken his silence following his split from Sabrina Carpenter.
The actor, 32, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to respond to the “lies, hate and disgusting comments” about him and explain why he recently deactivated his Instagram account.
‘I can only sit and take a limited amount. “My name has been dragged around the internet in a way I don’t normally respond to either,” the Saltburn star wrote in a lengthy statement.
He continued: “I have to respond now because we are getting to a point where too many lines are being crossed.”
‘I deactivated my account because I can no longer allow these things to distract me from my family and my work. No one should ever have to read the messages I have received. Outright lies, hatred, disgusting comments about my appearance, my character, how I am as a father and every other inhumane thing you can imagine.’
‘Dragging my character and everything I worked very hard for and what I stand for. Talking about how I was a baby heroine and how I grew up and dragging my dear mother into it too. Knocking on my grandmother’s door.’

‘Sitting outside my babies’ house, bullying them. That’s crossing a line. Every day I work harder to push myself on every level to be the healthiest, strongest person for that child. I want to provide you with opportunities to learn, fail, and grow. I want him to be able to look up to his dad, to have complete trust in me and know that I will have his back no matter what happens.’
He concluded by adding: ‘I need you to remember that he has to read ALL of this about his father when he is older. Please be respectful to everyone. Thank you x.’
The statement comes after Barry deactivated his Instagram in the wake of their split.
The Irish actor was an active user on the social media platform under the name @keoghan92, although he notably only followed his former singer Sabrina, 25.
Just on Friday, Barry took to Instagram to share shots of his muscular arms in a teal vest while posing in front of a mirror.
The actor also shared another photo of him wearing a full-face motorcycle helmet with the face shield raised and his icy blue eyes exposed.
However, just hours later, his Instagram account became unavailable, and the actor seemingly stepped away from social media amid the breakup of his relationship and subsequent cheating rumors that followed.
‘I can only sit and take a limited amount. “My name has been dragged around the Internet in ways I normally don’t respond to either,” he wrote in a lengthy statement.
It comes after claims that Barry was “very faithful and loyal” to Sabrina, according to a source who spoke to Us Weekly, amid recent rumors that he cheated on Onlyfans star Breckie Hill.
Barry was hit by allegations he cheated on the Espresso hitmaker after it was reported the couple had split after a year of dating on Tuesday.
However, the source told Us Weekly that the actor was “very dedicated to her happiness” but that they are “in different places in their lives.”
The source further divulged that it has been “a challenge for their relationship since she started touring and has been away a lot” and that “their schedules didn’t line up.”
“The whole time they were apart it was difficult to maintain a relationship in the midst of his career explosion.”
The source added that Sabrina was being “pulled in so many directions” and simply didn’t have time to “commit to a relationship.”
After achieving a “high level of stardom,” the songbird has apparently found it difficult to “focus and be present for himself in a relationship.”
The source added that she “barely has time for herself, much less a relationship.”
Another source told the publication that the breakup happened “in the last month” due to their busy schedules.
