Another gangster attack has hit Sydney after up to 10 bullets were fired at a house.
Locals reported two men wearing balaclavas shot at the house on Chisholm Rd in Auburn, in Sydney’s western suburbs, shortly after 3pm.
A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said they were called to the scene but were “not required” to treat anyone.
Police were informed that the men dressed in dark clothing were seen fleeing a car that had been set on fire in Carramar, about 7 kilometers west of the shooting, about 15 minutes later.
Images from the scene show the silver sedan engulfed in flames and a jerrycan abandoned on the road next to it.
A high-visibility local tried to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher, but due to its severity, only firefighters who arrived shortly after were able to extinguish it.
Local police, the Dog Squad and PolAir are canvassing the area around Atkin Street where two men were reportedly last seen fleeing the vehicle.
“Both incidents are believed to be linked and crime scenes have been established at the locations which will be examined by specialist officers,” read a statement from New South Wales Police.
The occupants of a house in Sydney’s western suburbs (pictured, police at the scene) were fortunately unharmed after up to 10 bullets were fired into the house on Wednesday afternoon.
What is believed to be the shooter’s getaway car was found engulfed in flames a few minutes later in a neighboring suburb.
Anyone with information, including dash cam footage, has been urged to contact police.
It comes after an escalation of shootings believed to be linked to Sydney’s underworld.
The public attacks included five targeted shootings in a single week in mid-July.
They add to the dozens of gangland shootings that have hit the city since 2020, fueled by a war between rival criminal organizations.
Three men broke into the apartment of a 29-year-old man on Figtree Drive in the city’s inner west before shooting him several times shortly before 3am last Friday.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the victim at the scene before rushing him to hospital for further treatment.
He suffered serious injuries but is expected to make a full recovery.
Police are investigating whether a burnt-out silver 4×4, found near Lidcombe, was used as the trio’s getaway car.
More to come.
