It comes as father-daughter duo Simon and Rosie Elli, who appeared on the show last year and were crowned winners, shared some behind-the-scenes secrets.
Speaking to MailOnline about their experience, the duo revealed that they loved their time on the show but were surprised by how it worked out.
Among them was the fact that producers would step in to dictate prices during the haggling process due to one of Bargain Hunt’s unspoken rules.
Marketing assistant Rosie revealed: ‘We originally haggled our first item at £3.50, but they said Bargain Hunt can only show sales in pounds, so we had to go up to £4. We could have made more profits!’
CEO Simon added: ‘There are also certain things you can’t buy for copyright reasons.
“You couldn’t buy a photo of Marilyn Monroe, for example, because if you showed it on camera it would be copyrighted and you’d have to pay a fee.
“We wanted to buy a Coca Cola sign but they told us to leave it.”
On the show, contestants have one hour to make their three purchases, and viewers watch the teams frantically race against the clock.
However, in reality the filming process is much longer – Rosie and Simon revealed they were at the antiques fair for at least three hours.
Rosie explained: ‘They keep stopping the timer to go over the scenes again. You’ll film an interaction and they’ll jump in and say “no, no, no, you can’t do that.”
“Then they’ll come back and tell you to put your hand somewhere else and repeat what you said, and then they start the timer.”
Confirming that there is “a lot of stopping and starting”, Simon revealed that he also takes a lot of time to confirm where they can film and who doesn’t mind appearing on camera, joking: “I think some of those antiques might have been dodgy deals! “.

Although Simon and Rosie lost, they still triumphed over the Red team and were crowned winners after the products went up for auction (pictured with entertainment experts Kate Bliss, far left, and Gary Pe, far right, and presenter Eric Knowles).
While the filming process was longer than expected, the longest wait came before even appearing on camera, with the pair revealing that five episodes of Bargain Hunt were filmed on the same day, with the contestants having to wait in the green room until they were called. movie.
After filming their episode, the contestants are asked to take off their Bargain Hunt fleeces and are given free rein to wander around the market stalls, meaning they often all end up in the background of the Bargain Hunt episodes. the rest.
Speaking about the wait, Simon explained: “It’s a big room with all the production team, the cast and all the crew in the room together.
‘They give you a little table and you’re there all day. It’s quite boring because you sit at a table until they call you. They force you to stay there until they film you.
After being filmed making their purchases, the groups face a week-long wait before their items go up for auction, during which time they are told not to tell the other team about their items or check the condition of their products. on the auction house’s website. .
Rosie and Simon revealed that producers had warned them not to look for their items online because teams can cheat by having friends or family bid and increase profits.
“It’s very obvious in the episodes when someone cheats,” Simon reflected. “You can always tell when someone says, ‘Oh, wow, that made a lot of money,’ and it’s not like they lose anything because you keep the profits.”
During auction day, teams have to wait for their lots to be called and then are filmed watching the auction live.
They then face another long wait until the results are revealed at the end of the day.
Rosie revealed that they had no idea whether they had won or not until presenter Eric Knowles, who the couple revealed was very kind and friendly, announced the results.
“Those were our actual reactions on camera,” he confirmed. “I mean, in theory we could have asked the other team how well they did and worked it out, but it was more fun this way.”
Simon added: “That’s the spirit of the game.” “They do a good job of making everything pretty real and there wasn’t any kind of deception, so it was good.”
While they may not have made a profit, Rosie and Simon were still pleased with their win, as well as the fact that they kept their Bargain Hunt fleeces and were given a travel mug and keychain by the production team.
Although they were surprised by some aspects of the filming, Rosie and Simon recommended the experience to everyone, urging anyone who is a Bargain Hunt fan to apply and try their luck.
