Barcelona have completed the free transfer of their former youth player Eric Garcia after the expiry of his contract with Manchester City.
The cash-strapped Spanish giants have included a delightful £344 million buyout clause in his contract, with the centre-back canceling the terms until the end of the 2025-26 season.
Barcelona made the news Tuesday morning, posting a throwback video to Twitter of Garcia from his childhood days in La Masia before being shown around his old surroundings.

Following the announcement on Tuesday morning, Garcia officially signed his contract with Barcelona at the Camp Nou, ahead of his unveiling in the club’s colors on the pitch – with the presentation taking place behind closed doors due to the ongoing Covid pandemic.
Prior to his unveiling, Garcia underwent his medical examination at Barcelona headquarters, with the club uploading a video to Twitter of their new acquisition walking on the treadmill while thumbs up to the camera.
The 20-year-old has followed in the footsteps of Man City legend Sergio Aguero, who completed his transfer to Barcelona on Monday after signing a two-year deal with the club.
An emotional return to the Nou Camp for Garcia has been in the pipeline for some time after he made it clear to City that he wanted to return to his youth club.

Garcia joined the Barcelona academy in 2008 and climbed through the La Masia ranks – where he was captain at every level – until leaving for City in 2017.
The centre-back made 35 appearances for City’s first team after making his debut in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup against Leicester in December 2018.
The defender only made six appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side during the 2020/21 season – largely due to his desire to return to the Nou Camp – as they raced home to win the Premier League title.
Garcia’s emergence at the Etihad Stadium under Guardiola caught the eye of Luis Enrique, with the Spanish boss recently confirming the young defender’s inclusion in his European Championship squad.
