The French forward, whose position had changed three times while Ronald Koeman was desperately trying to find a way to defeat their stubborn opponents, swung his left foot at Frenkie De Jong’s cross after Ronald Araujo turned him on and it buzzed in on the at mail.
Lionel Messi led the attack to mobilize the goalscorer. Barcelona had won a match they almost surrendered with a shoddy, complacent first half.

Barça is now only one point behind LaLiga leader Atletico Madrid after the victory
The 45-minute opening time was so bad that Messi’s words in the tunnel’s mouth at the start of the second half, picked up by television microphones, were clear: “We need to find another gear; we need to speed things up; we have to win this however we can. We need to speed up or this will get complicated. ‘
It was complicated, and until Demeble’s late-late attack, it looked like they would be throwing away their chance to close the gap on Atletico.
Valladolid made the most of Barça’s poor start with four tries on target in the first 25 minutes.
Kenan Kodro came closest to the center of Saidy Janko on the crossbar after nine minutes and there were two shots just over from Roque Mesa.

Messi got a free kick and Dembélé headed a cross from Antoine Griezmann, but Koeman was annoyed about the sidelines by his team’s poor start. Dembele selflessly pulled his back to Messi when he himself was in the firing range, but Ruben Alcaraz slipped in to block the shot as Barcelona improved as the half progressed. To underline that, Pedri hit a shot from the edge of the area that Jordi Masip pushed onto his post just before half time.
After Messi’s pep talk, the Barelona players came back onto the field and there was also a change in formation with Frenkie De Jong, after playing in a back three for the first 45 minutes, now very much in midfield when Koeman switched to 4 -3-3.
The front three nearly combined to open the score, with Messi sending Dembélé clear. His shot was parried and Greizmann headed the rebound wide. The opportunity came just after Lucas Olaza tested Marc Andre Ter Stegen by shooting into the side net.
Valladolid then claimed handball against Jordi Alba, but although the ball had hit the left back’s hand, Oscar Plano had hit him from three feet away and the arm had been in a natural position.
On the other hand, Messi got a free kick, but his attempt was saved by Masip.
Shortly after the hour, Koeman made a triple change with Francisco Trincao, Martin Braithwaite and Ronald Araujo for Griezmann, Sergio Busquets and Oscar Mingueza.
Ronald Koeman changed his team’s formation during the match to try and find a goal
With the changes, Dembélé now played on the left wing after starting the game as a center forward and moving to the right wing at half time.
It was the Frenchman’s ball back to Messi that allowed him to whistle another shot, just wide. It was Barca’s 15th place finish, but they hadn’t yet violated former Barca B goalkeeper Masip’s goal.
With nine minutes to go, Valladolid was reduced to ten minutes when Dembele started on a mazy run and was chopped down from behind by Plano. It looked like yellow, but the card was red. Dembele held back because his momentum had crashed his head into Bruno Gonzalez’s knee.
Valladolid players surrounded referee Jaime Latre, but he was not called to review the incident and instead, as he approached the sidelines, it was to show someone on the bench in Valladolid another red.
They were furious about the decision and with two minutes more time to go, they were back in the lead when Dembele turned a point into three and left Barcelona knowing they could win the title by winning all of their remaining games – starting on Saturday. out at Real. Madrid.
