Former President Barack Obama’s Secret Service security team has been accused of a major gaffe outside a star-studded bar mitzvah in Los Angeles.
Obama was being guarded by his protective team inside a black SUV on a trip to Los Angeles when a gunman he said approached the vehicle.
He told TMZ that he was checking out the situation in his capacity as a security guard for the bar mitzvah. As he approached, he says he came across the government vehicle, then took a photo of it and saw the former president sitting on the passenger side of the vehicle.
He said he walked away quickly, aware that he was carrying a gun, which could be perceived as a threat by Obama’s security detail. The agency is on alert for threats following two assassination attempts against former President Donald Trump.
He says he greeted the officers protecting Obama and then returned to the bar mitvah. Later, he says his boss asked him to hand over his credentials and concealed carry permit for review, according to the outlet. reported.
The president’s daughters, Malia and Sasha, joined their father for dinner at Mother Wolf, considered one of the best upscale pizza restaurants.
