Both former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama have officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president.
Harris’ campaign released a video early Friday morning showing the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee receiving a call from the political power couple revealing their endorsement of her.
The video was filmed Wednesday in Indianapolis, where Harris traveled to address the Zeta Phi Beta sorority.
A Democratic official told DailyMail.com that the endorsement announcement was delayed so as not to overshadow President Joe Biden’s speech in the Oval Office on Wednesday night.
“Kamala!” the short clip begins, with President Obama’s clear voice coming from the vice president’s cell phone. “Hello!” Michelle chimes in.

As Harris walks across the venue to her truck, she gushes, “Oh, hey, you two are together. I’m glad to hear you’re together.”
“I can’t make this phone call without telling my daughter Kamala that I’m proud of you,” Michelle says. “This is going to be historic.”
“We’re calling to tell you, Michelle and I, that we couldn’t be more proud to endorse you and do everything we can to help you get through this election and into the Oval Office,” the former president said.
There were some questions about why the Obamas did not immediately endorse Harris as other top Democrats joined the campaign.
The Democratic official told DailyMail.com that the former president wanted to make something “more than just a statement.”
Before the endorsement was announced, the Trump campaign pushed the narrative that Obama was displeased that the party had united around Harris and that, with enough delegates backing her on Monday night, she had secured the nomination.
“There is a strong sense among many in the Democratic Party — specifically Barack Hussein Obama — that Kamala Harris is a Marxist fraud who can’t beat President Trump, and they are still waiting for someone ‘better,'” Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said Thursday night.

The broader intent of the statement was to say that his Republican rival, former President Donald Trump, would not finalize a debate schedule until “Democrats formally decide on their nominee.”
The Democratic nomination process, which will be held virtually before the Chicago convention, will end on August 7.
In the short video, Harris told the Obamas she looked forward to seeing them on the campaign trail.
While the former president appeared at several high-dollar fundraisers on Biden’s behalf, including the infamous event with George Clooney, Michelle has yet to be at a campaign event.
She had privately expressed frustration that the Biden family had largely exiled her close friend Kathleen Buhle, Hunter Biden’s first wife and mother of his three adult children, according to A report from Axios last month.
But it looks like with Harris in charge, Michelle is ready.
Harris thanked both Obamas before hanging up the phone.
“I just want to say that the words you’ve said and the friendship you’ve given me over the years mean more than I can express,” she said. “So thank you both, it means a lot.”
“And we’re going to have some fun, too, right?” he asked.
