MANILA, Philippines – The management of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) announced Wednesday that it will conduct track replacement work at the Baclaran Station from September 20 to 24, resulting in limited train service, movement and headways.
To make way for the maintenance activities, Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) said a portion of Baclaran’s reverse tracks will be closed.
The closure of the segment, the LRMC said, will impact LRT-1 train movements, deployment and use of platforms for passenger loading and unloading. It will also increase LRT-1’s schedule and headway from four minutes to approximately five minutes.
“As the LRT-1 system continues to accommodate our growing ridership, LRMC is committed to providing a safe and reliable transportation system. We would like to ask for the kind understanding of our commuters and apologize in advance for the temporary inconvenience in carrying out these track renewal activities necessary for a better LRT-1 experience,” said Rolando Paulino III, Chief Operating Officer of LRMC in a statement.
“We are also continuing to deploy our new 4th generation trains to carry more passengers, with five train sets already in commercial service,” he added.
Therefore, LRMC reminded the public to plan their trips in advance for the next four days.
LRT-1 operations are expected to normalize on Monday, September 25.
