Family members of musician Cat Janice, best known for her song Dance You Outta My Head, announced she died of cancer Wednesday morning.

In a statement, shared on Instagram, the 31-year-old artist’s loved ones revealed that she passed away in her childhood home “surrounded by her loving family.”

“Catherine peacefully entered into the light and love of her heavenly creator,” the post began. “We are eternally grateful for the outpouring of love that Catherine and our family have received over the past few months.”

They continued: ‘Cat has seen her music go places she never expected and rests in peace knowing that she will continue to provide for her son through her music. This would not have been possible without all of you.”

Janice blew up on social media, particularly TikTok, after revealing that she had transferred all of her songs into her seven-year-old son Loren’s name so that he would receive all the profits.

In a statement, shared on Instagram, the 31-year-old artist’s loved ones revealed that she died in her childhood home “surrounded by her loving family.”

Janice, 31, of Washington, DC, was diagnosed with sarcoma (bone or soft tissue cancer) in early 2022.

He underwent surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, all while continuing to record and release new music, and in July 2022 he was told he was cancer-free.

But in June 2023, the mother of one announced via social media that the disease had returned, this time in her lungs.

Earlier this month, she told her followers that she felt “trapped in an almost lifeless body” while receiving palliative care.

After a long battle against the terrible disease, the singer declared last month that “the cancer had won” and that she only had a few “weeks or months” left.

The artist then decided to release a ‘farewell song’, called Dance You Outta My Head, as a last bid to raise money for her little one.

Cat performed a duet with content creator Sarah Cothran, who she had asked to perform a ‘haunting version’ of the song.

The artist then posted a heartbreaking update about her condition, writing, “It’s been so hard for me going through this and all these videos and covers and all your support has made it easier and I can’t thank you enough.”

“I’ve always been strong, so spending weeks without being able to walk has left me trapped.

‘But this helped me remember that when I get to heaven I will dance with God and fly above the clouds. I can not wait.’

Fighting back tears, she concluded, “I will no longer be trapped in this body.” I’ll be dancing again. I hope to see you all there.’

Cat gave more details in the caption as she wrote: “I’m stuck passing slowly, unable to move, can’t use my legs, trapped in this almost lifeless body.

‘Cancer is no joke and never plays well. But this beautiful moment helps me remember that soon I will be flying through the skies, flying through the next dimension, dancing with God and my Nonnie.

‘I’ll finally be free and boy am I going to dance.’ My baby will also have all these wonderful memories thanks to all of you.’

The mom initially took to Instagram on Jan. 5 with a heartfelt post that read, “There’s no easy way to say this (but) my time on this beautiful Earth is coming to an end (in) weeks or months, I’m not sure.” . .’

Cat, who married her longtime boyfriend days earlier, continued, “I’m so grateful to have been able to spend the last week at my beautiful wedding with the love of my life.”

“You never know what life will bring. One minute you’re slow dancing in the arms of your husband and your amazing baby…the next minute you’re in the hospital hearing the news.

‘I am not afraid because I know that I have many loved ones around me and I will be with my creator.

‘But one thing I wanted to do before I leave is to post one more song for my birthday, praying that I can make it to my birthday.

‘I leave all profits to my son, who is very musically inclined, in the hope of giving him the musical boost he will need later in life.

“I hope it brings you as much joy and dancing feet as it does me. I want to leave behind smiles, rhythms and joy for you and I know this is the right song for that.

‘I love you all and I will try to keep you informed, but sometimes it is difficult. Thank you for loving me and my music all these years.”
