The mother of a baby who was doused with scalding coffee by a stranger and left with life-threatening injuries has spoken out about a major milestone in her recovery.
Just weeks after his first birthday, and for the first time since the horrific attack less than two months ago, little Luka no longer has bandages.
Once completely covered from head to torso, the brave little boy smiled for the camera as his proud mother took to Instagram to give an update on his progress.
“The strength, bravery and courage that you have shown over the last month has been amazing,” he gushed.
Several photos showed the baby happily walking around his house with his injuries appearing to have healed drastically.
Luka was attacked by a stranger while on a picnic with his mother in Hanlon Park, in Brisbane’s southeastern hinterland, on August 27.
He suffered life-threatening burns to his face, upper body and arms and underwent four operations at Queensland Children’s Hospital.
“I can’t even begin to imagine how much pain my baby was in that day,” her mother wrote in a montage of photos showing her recovery process.

‘This is the part of the burn where his nerves weren’t burned, so he felt everything. The pain I have felt from the small burns has been intense and much less of this size.’
She ended her update by confessing that she still feels very emotional about the ordeal.
“It makes me so sad that my son had to go through so much pain,” she wrote.
Hoping for a new start for their small family, the couple bought their first home.
“When all this happened, we couldn’t even think about the future because we didn’t know what Luka’s future would be like. It didn’t feel good to be happy when Luka was suffering,” she wrote on social media last week.
“However, with Luka’s strength and his continued healing, we restarted our search and now have something positive to look forward to.”

A 33-year-old Chinese national with a student visa was identified Thursday as the man suspected of the cowardly attack.
Police obtained a warrant for the man’s arrest for acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, which carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.
The man drove to New South Wales a day after the alleged attack before flying out of the country from Sydney on August 31.
Acting Deputy Police Commissioner Andrew Massingham told Radio 4BC on Thursday that the suspect’s name had been published in Chinese media.
Police said the 33-year-old had no family or criminal record in Australia and had worked in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.

Daily Mail Australia understands he had been on a holiday visa since he first arrived in Australia in 2019, before switching to a student visa.
According to Chinese media, he was born in Hangzhou, China.
“We are very committed to finding the individual responsible,” Mr Massingham said.
“That child will have those injuries for life.”
Queensland Police Detective Inspector Paul Dalton said the suspect allegedly fled the country just 12 hours after he was identified.
‘We have 30 detectives working for me. “They are devastated that they haven’t seen this person for 12 hours,” he said.
“I felt deflated, but that deflation quickly turns into determination and resilience to get the job done.”
