A spokesman for the Victoria Police on Friday said it appeared the driver was trying to park at the time of the incident, but the circumstances of the accident are still under investigation.
Witness Zainab was next to the center when she heard a loud bang.
“I thought it was an earthquake or a shooting or something,” she told Nine News on Friday.
Childcare receptionist Thilini Cooray said she had a doctor’s appointment and was out of the office when the accident happened.
“I got a call from one of the managers and at first I thought she was joking,” said Cooray.
The receptionist said she was usually in the front center and could get hit.
“I could have died,” she told Nine News.
Three adults, including the driver, were taken to hospital – one to Northern Hospital and two to Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or provided dashcam footage is requested to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
