A groom whose nerves got the best of him at the altar accidentally mixed up his wedding vows in a hilarious mistake.

Robert Thomson, 36, had planned to comfort his girlfriend Amy, 33, telling her he would be there to “comfort you when you’re sad”.

However, while mixing up the wedding vows, Robert accidentally mixed up two lines and ended up telling her, “I’ll laugh at you when you’re sad.”

In a clip of the comical mix-up, the bride and groom break down laughing when Amy saw the funny side of Robert’s mistake.

The fun moment was captured as the couple stood at the altar at their wedding venue in Hadleigh, Essex, in April 2023.

Robert receives a laugh from the guests and from Amy herself, when he repeats Amy’s five names and smiles.

The couple married in April 2023 in a ceremony held in Hadleigh, Essex, in front of their family and friends.

As the couple approach their first anniversary, they have reflected on the “lovely” wedding ceremony they shared, despite the confusing vows.

Robert, who works in construction, said: ‘It was such a beautiful day. I was full of nerves and that’s why I stumbled over my vows.

“I was waiting for Amy for almost 45 minutes because she was late, which made me even more nervous!

‘I saw the funny side. It’s a moment no one can forget or forget, and our family and friends definitely saw the funny side too!’

Meanwhile, Amy joked: ‘It was like a Carry On movie! I don’t think he realized until the reaction. We will never forget him.’
