A popular comedian criticized a parking lot for making its women-only spaces wider than the rest.
Choccy Dan, who runs the YouTube channel Misfit Minds, shared a video on TikTok on Wednesday after visiting the Pier Street car park in Perth.
“This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen, female parking,” she said.
She pointed to the bright pink sign with an arrow pointing upward to indicate that the area is to be used by women only.
He then pointed to a blue parking sign at another nearby parking space, which may be used by other motorists.
Choccy Dan decided to test whether women’s parking spaces were wider by lying down on the ground.
“It’s at least 20 percent wider,” he said.
He criticised the difference in width and called Perth a “sexist city”.
Australian comedian Choccy Dan (pictured) revealed the size of the parking spaces reserved for women at Perth’s Pier Street shopping centre in a hilarious TikTok video.
“I think this is disgusting and sexist. The City of Perth must be held accountable for its actions,” she said.
The video, which has racked up more than 300,000 views, immediately struck a chord with social media users.
Some defended the move, saying the extra space was necessary.
“It’s for strollers and is closer to the entrance so it’s a little safer for moms and grandmas,” one person wrote.
Others argued that the parking spaces discriminated against other drivers.
“I totally agree with you that this is sexist, not in today’s Perth,” one person wrote.
Some questioned why parking spaces had been labelled if this was done to protect female shoppers.
“Those perverts shouldn’t be standing there now that they know exactly where they’ll be parking,” added a third.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted the City of Perth for comment.
The council introduced women-only parking in 2016 and the multi-level car park at the mall has 28 parking spaces reserved for women.
The car park has 700 parking spaces in total.
Former Perth City chief executive Martin Mileham said at the time that parking spaces are equipped with brighter lights, emergency help buttons and are located near exits.
The council said the move was made to protect the safety of customers from anti-social behaviour.

Drivers were quick to react by referencing female privilege and questioning whether these privileged spots affect the elderly, the disabled or parents with strollers.
Others insisted that safety was a serious concern for women using closed parking spaces in the dark.
