Warner Bros. confirmed it. Discovery and Disney announced that James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water will be released on Disney+ and Max (formerly HBO Max) on June 7.
And if you’re wondering why Avatar: The Way of Water comes out on Max and Disney+ on the same day, that’s thanks to a deal Disney made with WarnerMedia in 2021. According to the agreement (says Variety), Max can share streaming rights to Fox movies released in 2022 with Disney+ and Hulu.
Although Disney owns Hulu, the movie’s broadcast date via that service has not been disclosed.
