Hundreds of thousands of older Australians will receive more than $100 in their bank accounts after a state handed out $30 million in cost-of-living rebates.

More than 307,000 Western Australian Seniors Card members can expect to see the cash boost in the coming days.

Couples receiving pension will receive $160.68 and singles will receive $107.12.

Payments began to be processed last week for pensioners who are already part of the plan, but it could take a few days to appear in bank accounts.

There has been increased demand, meaning anyone new to the scheme may have to wait longer to receive their annual payment.

“The Western Australian Seniors Card Living Cost Rebate provides vital funding directly to seniors,” said Western Australian Minister for Seniors and Ageing Don Punch.

The plan, which was launched in 2009, is paid out annually and has so far allocated more than $421 million.

Mr Punch also urged seniors to check out his 2024-2025 Discount Directory, which has a full list of all the discounts available to older Australians.

The directory is available at select libraries, community resource centers and local government offices.

To be eligible for the scheme, Australian citizens or permanent residents must be resident in Western Australia and be over 65 years of age.

If the elderly person has a job, he or she must work less than 25 hours a week.

Applications are available at WA Senior Card Website.
