Fashion lovers have been shocked to discover that they have been mispronouncing the name of a popular clothing brand for years.

Fashion lovers were left shocked after discovering they had been mispronouncing the name of a popular clothing brand for years.

Adam from the US was recently thinking about Australian brands when he realized he had no idea how to pronounce ‘Decjuba’ – and he’s not alone.

“There’s a brand of women’s clothing that I always walk past and I don’t know how to pronounce it,” he said in a video.

Hundreds of Australians also revealed their confusion, with many claiming different versions such as ‘Deckjuba’, ‘Deck-joba’ or ‘Deek-joo-bah’.

But the brand soon revealed that the ‘j’ was silent and is actually pronounced ‘De-Cuba’.

Shoppers also shared Adam’s uncertainty.

“Before I heard you say the name of the store, I knew you were going to say Decjuba,” one said.

Another said: “I bought there today, I asked and I’m still not sure.”

A third added: “I don’t know how to pronounce it so I don’t shop there because if someone asked me where it’s from I wouldn’t be able to tell them.”

Many revealed their surprise when discovering the true pronunciation.

“This was a public service because I didn’t know how to pronounce it either,” said one shopper.

‘I had no idea either (until now)!’ said another.

“OMG I’m Australian and I shop there all the time,” one woman wrote. “Until now I thought it was ‘Dejuk-aba’.”

But Decjuba is not the only brand causing confusion.

Many assume that Sol de Janeiro’s Bum Bum Cream is pronounced phonetically, but the correct way to say it is actually ‘boom boom’ cream.

The Brazilian brand named the popular body lotion after the Portuguese word “boom boom,” which means “butt” or “buttocks.”

Sun of Janeiro officially confirmed how to pronounce the name after years of confusion, but many buyers still can’t understand it.

‘Maybe I’m a fool too, but I’ve been calling it boom boom cream, not boom boom!’ Alicia, from Victoria, recently revealed.

Many supported Alicia and have no plans to start calling the product by its correct name.

“My 16-year-old daughter rolled her eyes and looked at me when I said boom boom,” one mom shared.

‘Well, I was today when I found out about this!’ added another. ‘It’s too late to change. I always thought it was a strange name.

“I thought it was cream to moisturize your butt,” one joked.

Shoppers also recently realized that they had been mispronouncing the skincare company’s name ‘Cetaphil’ their entire lives.

The company, founded in 1947 by an American pharmacist, is pronounced “SEE-ta-fill” instead of “SET-a-fill.”

The range of facial soaps and moisturizers is named after cetyl alcohol, its main ingredient.

“We discovered the secret: here we show you how to pronounce our brand,” Cetaphil revealed in 2015. The pronunciation is also used in radio and television advertisements for the brand.

Many who saw the post had mixed reactions to the news.

“That’s wrong,” one man said. ‘I have been calling him ‘Seh-ta-fil’ (as a set) since he was 11, that is, for about 18 years. It seems too late to change!’

‘Hey? “We’ve been using the lotion for 30 years and you can’t teach an old dog new tricks,” wrote another.

‘That? “We have to change it to ‘Set-a-phil’, it’s the right thing to do,” argued a third.

But others were happy to know that their version was correct all along.

“That’s how I’ve always pronounced it, so I’m glad I got it right this time,” one skincare lover revealed.

“I’ve pronounced it like that my entire life. “I always thought if it was supposed to be pronounced ‘Set-a-phil’ it would have two ‘t’s,” said a second.

Another wrote: ‘To-ma-to, To-mah-to! No matter how you pronounce it, the products are wonderful. I’ve been using the cleansing bar and moisturizer for years and love it!’
