Australians have agreed on a single detail in a house that reveals a person’s economic status.
Roller shutters – doors constructed from individual slats of steel, wood or aluminum – in Australia are now considered “elite” after a viral video highlighted their many benefits.
Chanel, from Sydney, shared a video of her bedroom’s roller blinds that activate with a button and completely block out all light.
“People always want to know how I can fall asleep at any time of the day, so I’d like to introduce you to my childhood bedroom,” he said, marveling at how his once sunlit room was getting darker by the second.

They are attached to the outside of the glass and can be activated manually, via a battery-operated remote control, or electrically.
In addition to inclement weather, roller blinds also protect against theft.
Chanel joked that the article made her identify with the children’s story The Princess and the Pea and made her extremely sensitive to light.
While uncommon in Australia, roller shutters are common in European countries and some parts of North America.

“This is the first time I’ve heard of roller blinds. I guess I’m not rich!” wrote one woman.
“For a shift worker who sleeps during the day, these blinds are a blessing,” one of them said. “I can never live without them.”
“These would kill a lot in the Australian heat,” another added.
“Honestly, if my blinds did this, I don’t think I’d ever wake up,” one joked.
Some shared how they achieve the same darkness on a limited budget.
“I have two blankets covering my windows,” one man said.
