The woman said she was happy with the result until her brother said it could explode, prompting her to seek advice from DIY experts before lighting.

The post received mixed responses, with some claiming the logs would crack and shatter in heat, while others said they used similar fire pits with no problem.

“A friend and I made this firepit today out of regular Bunnings retaining wall bricks … all well and good until my brother says they could explode?” the woman posted in Bunnings Mums Australia.

“Has anyone made something similar or can he give some advice?”
