Located opposite one of Australia’s most famous beaches, few passersby would know that the unassuming Beach Suites is one of Byron Bay’s premier hotels welcoming creatures great and small.
The coastal town, located in the far north of New South Wales, has quickly become a hub for the rich and powerful, so it makes sense for tourists to relax with their four-legged friends on holiday.
Recently, my miniature dachshund Licky and I had the pleasure of staying at the beachside sanctuary for two days of wonderful relaxation in one of Australia’s most iconic destinations.
If you’re like Licky and appreciate the finer things in life, then you’ll love Beach Suites. There’s no shortage of ocean views, private pools, luxurious finishes and multi-million dollar interiors here.
We stayed in one of the property’s four family-sized penthouses, with a rooftop pool that offered views of the famous Byron Lighthouse in the distance.
Almost directly opposite the hotel is Belongil dog beach, where I enjoyed a morning coffee and a dip in the ocean.

Each penthouse has its own private pool.
Between sunbathing, sleeping, and sunset walks, Licky and I enjoyed the local hospitality scene.
It turns out that Byron is full of dog-friendly restaurants and bars, we enjoyed evening cocktails at the newly opened Bonito at the Marvell Hotel and had lunch at the nearby Treehouse restaurant in Belongil Beach.
What sets Beach Suites apart is their dedication to all of their guests (both humans and fur babies) offering a truly personalized and inclusive experience during our stay. No detail is overlooked here.
Beach Suites is located almost across the street from Belongil Dog Beach, where Licky enjoyed a dip in the ocean.
The attention to detail from general manager Helen Buckley and her team was second to none, from luxurious dog beds and dog bowls, the guest experience is as much about the pets as it is about their owners.
Located just a stone’s throw from the famous Beach Hotel, the renovated hotel offers a selection of meticulously designed penthouses with rooftop pools to a simpler garden suite or studio.
Each room is equipped with meticulous, locally sourced amenities and modern appliances offering guests a premium stay with the utmost attention to detail.
The interiors are sleek and stylish, paying homage to Byron’s surf culture.
The property is owned by businessman Scott Didier, who considers Byron one of his favorite places in the world.
