‘They were all gone in 30 minutes’: Australians are amazed that the ‘miracle’ trick of banishing lemon flies DOES work
- A farmer has revealed the simple two-ingredient method of banishing flies at home
- The woman says she uses lemons and cloves indoors and out with great success
- The ‘hack’ stops working as soon as the lemon dries, according to the farmer’s mother
Australians banned flying from their home after finding a simple hack that ‘really works’ to get rid of the pests.
The simple trick that requires putting a handful of cloves on top of a halved lemon was revealed by Daily Mail Australia last week – and hundreds of families are excited to announce that it ‘really works’.
It seems to work both indoors and out, with some saying flies can pass through but not ‘hang around like normal’.
When the lemon dries, the flies will come back, but you don’t have to get a new lemon every time. Just pour water over the top to moisten it.
This trick to rehydrate the lemon works three or four times, according to a woman.
A lemon and a handful of cloves is enough to get rid of flies in the house or on the porch, according to the mom who posted her all-natural hack online
One woman says her lemon and clove experiment is on ‘day six’ and is still working well.
some people put the cloves in the lemon while others just pour them on top.
However, one woman was disappointed that the trick didn’t work, but in a photo of her failed experiment, she revealed that she was using an orange, not a lemon.
The original poster, Vanessa, lives on a farm near Adelaide and swears by her trick.
‘It’s stinking hot here today, my porch was full of flies – put this there; barely a fly in half an hour, ”Vanessa said.
The mom posted a photo of a lemon with a pinch of cloves on it – revealing the simple clutch that scares flies away.
“This may not work for everyone, but it works for me,” she said.
She says the lemon should be replaced someday if it starts to dry up because the flies will return.
‘This is the first time I’ve used it this season as the flies are very bad today. I was looking for an alternative to the use of chemicals and found this, so far, well. ‘
She also has lemongrass in her front yard, which she says helps reduce both flies and mosquitoes.
Mother’s hint proved popular and effective, while others verified its effectiveness.
The mother who lives in rural Australia posted a photo of a lemon with a pinch of cloves on it – revealing the simple clutch work on her property within 30 minutes.
‘I did this very well indoors last summer, but I will try it outside because flies bite the dog’s ears,’ said one mother.
“I do this too – significantly reduces flying,” said another.
‘I’m definitely going to try this. Every time I cook dinner, slow cook, I have tons of flies coming in and actually outside doors because of the smell, thank you, ‘said another.
Some were less convinced.
“I tried this campground and it had no effect,” said one woman.
“I tried this too and it didn’t work, but it looks like it works for everyone else,” said another.
