Shocking images have emerged of a drunk Australian tourist being thrown to the ground at a Thai airport by armed police officers.
The Australian was waiting for your flight home from Phuket, Thailand, on Sept. 22, when he became increasingly rebellious after a waitress refused to serve him more alcohol at an airport bar.
The man, dressed in shorts and a T-shirt, stumbled out of the bar and began harassing nearby passengers waiting for flights.
Several police officers and airport staff rushed towards the man and tried to calm him down, but he only became more uncontrollable.
Shocking video showed the man being tackled to the ground by police officers, with one of them repeatedly hitting the Australian with a baton.
Another Australian who recorded the footage said the man appeared to be “very drunk.”
“I was very disappointed to see Australians or anyone else behaving this way,” the witness said.
“He was extremely drunk at the bar, got interrupted and then proceeded to fight with anyone who looked at him that much.”
An Australian traveler was thrown to the ground at a Thai airport after he began acting out when separated from a bar.
The other traveler said the man was eventually restrained and “Held in the bathroom hallway where he tormented anyone who passed by.”
“When he was on the bench handcuffed, he attacked anyone who made eye contact,” the witness said.
“I told him: ‘You are a failure and a shame.’ He didn’t like that.”
Airport staff confirmed that the tourist was held in an airport cell while he sobered up.
As a result, he missed his flight and was forced to rebook another plane.
A spokesman for Phuket International Airport said the situation had been resolved.
“The tourist in the video was very drunk and aggressive,” the spokesperson said.
“The police captured him at Gate 11. They detained him until he sobered up and then the situation was resolved.”
Finally, the man was pinned to the ground and spent the night sober in an airport cell.
