A teenager who died when a tree branch fell on him while collecting firewood with his father is being remembered as a “kind and gentle soul”.

Malakai Revill, 17, was felling trees in Dover, in Tasmania’s far south, when he was struck by a tree branch shortly after 4pm on Sunday.

Despite the efforts of police and paramedics, Malakai sadly died at the scene.

His father was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

She said the Revill family is going through an “extremely difficult time right now.”

Tasmanian Police told Daily Mail Australia the investigation was ongoing.

“This is expected to take some time to finalise,” a spokeswoman said.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
