Australian swimming great Cate Campbell has set pulses racing after revealing which sports will most resonate with other Olympic stars in Paris.

The retired pool star said rowers, water polo players and rugby stars are the athletes most likely to get frisky in the Olympic village, despite so-called “anti-sex” cardboard beds that have caused controversy in the official accommodation.

“If you’re out there meeting people and in the best shape of your life, who am I to stand in your way?” Campbell said in response to a suggestion that the Olympics are the “most exciting place in the world.”

‘I was single (at the Tokyo Olympics), but not many (athletes) connected because everyone was worried (at the time) about getting Covid.’

When pressed on which nation is participating the most at the Games, the former freestyle sprinter remained tight-lipped, before stating which sports are likely to see the most action between the sheets.

“I think rowers and water polo players… and rugby,” he said during an appearance on B105’s Stav, Abby & Matt radio show.

“In my experience, it wasn’t the swimmers.”

Campbell has courted controversy in recent months after criticising the US swimming team, and his comments sparked a war of words with pool legend Michael Phelps.

This followed Australia eclipsing their bitter rivals at last year’s world championships, but they were left furious when US broadcaster NBC changed its own medal tally chart to put the US on top.

This was despite Australia having 13 gold medals, more than the Americans’ seven.

Campbell did not mince his words, calling the American stars “sore losers,” leaving Phelps stunned.

He was convinced that Campbell’s sled would be a source of motivation before the pool trials in Paris.

Meanwhile, fellow Australian swimmer Emily Seebohm called out the biggest “weirs” during the Games, before detailing the obscene antics that often occur in the Olympic village.

His comments come after “anti-sex beds” in Paris caused an uproar following the International Olympic Committee’s crackdown on intimacy at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

Seebohm joked that the athletes’ living quarters are “like Tinder.”

“No joke, it’s probably like Tinder,” she joked while discussing the Paris Games on KIIS 97.3’s Robin & Kip on Wednesday.

Asked who the biggest “root mice” are, Seebohm continued: “Oh, gosh. Um, that’s really hard. If you compete later on, you know, you only have a small window to enjoy it.

“But if you compete on the first day or the second day and that’s it, it’s all over. So you can keep going like that for a little bit longer. I don’t know.”

Presenters Robin Bailey and Kip Wightman then joked that swimmers are “clearly” the most daring athletes because most of the finals have already taken place.
