A mother who had her first child when she was 18 has revealed what it is like to be a teenage mother – and the judgment she received from strangers during her pregnancy.
Mel Watts, a parenting blogger from the Central Coast, New South Wales, recently released one blog after the revelation that she was pregnant at the age of 18 with her first child.
Although her pregnancy was not planned, Mel, now 33, said she had no regrets, although she admitted at the time that it was difficult to deal with the judgment of others.
& # 39; The looks I received as I waddled through the street, the whisper I could hear while I waited for the midwifery appointment focused on me, & # 39; she wrote.

Mel said that although motherhood was not something she had planned, she did not regret her decision at all
Mel, a four-year-old mother, said the bond she had with her first-born was unbelievably special because she had to penetrate a series of fears about motherhood.
& # 39; I carried you close to me for nine months. I felt you kick, I felt you spin. I was the same as the other pregnant mothers, just a little more insecure, & she said.
It was also difficult to find others she could identify with, and she said she had trouble finding groups that she could connect with.
Mel said the most frightening thing to be a mother at a young age was feeling she didn't have any people she could talk to (photo left, with her oldest son, photo right, and her three younger children)
& # 39; I learned how to grow, how to take care of you. I read books, books that fill my brain with as much knowledge as I could, & said Mel.
& # 39; I was too scared to ask for help, I didn't even know where to look. As everyone already knew, I was too young to have you. & # 39;
If it wasn't enough to come to terms with her uncertainties, Mel said she was struggling with others, unspoken judgment about her.
Mel said that one of the more difficult aspects of becoming pregnant at a young age had to do with the assumptions of others
She said people were staring at her as she waddled through the street & # 39 ;, or didn't try to hide that they were whispering about her while she waited for midwifery appointments.
& # 39; They thought I was too young without even knowing my age, & # 39; said Mel.
& # 39; They assumed I was single without even asking me. Some people would feel sorry for me "Oh, my dear what did you do", while others would laugh "what a bad mistake".
The parenting blogger said that people were all too soon able to draw conclusions about her situation, including that she was single at the time
Although being pregnant at a young age was complicated, Mel emphasized that her son's best & # 39; worst mistake & # 39; used to be.
& # 39; Every outfit I see on photos & # 39; s – I remember buying them for you, & # 39; she said.
& # 39; Every toy I see in video & # 39; s – I remember what your face looked like. & # 39;
& # 39; You were so loved regardless of my age, being your mother was my best & # 39; worst & # 39; wrong. & # 39;
Mel said that regardless of the challenges she had to overcome, motherhood had brought so many benefits
Looking back, the blogger said, regardless of her age and circumstances, that motherhood had brought so many benefits.
& # 39; They know few times the times we have laid together. I would look at you and you at me.
& # 39; I promised you the world our late nights, you would scream our early mornings. Hugs for your pillow a million for you every day.
& # 39; Age is a number that is true, but regardless of my age – I am so glad I had you. & # 39;
