Australian man who died at Bali airport identified
Joseph Fisher, 53, from Darwin, fell unconscious in the international arrivals area of Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar shortly before noon on Wednesday.
Airport police spokesman Nyoman Darsana said the man suddenly collapsed in front of the Telkomsel booth in the arrivals area.
“Aviation security immediately called the airport’s health quarantine agency’s medical team after the incident,” he said.
‘Several minutes later, two medical teams from the agency arrived and attempted to save the victim by performing CPR.’
Mr Fisher was rushed to BIMC Hospital in Bali but could not be saved. The cause of his death is still unknown.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is providing assistance to Mr Fisher’s family.
“We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time,” a spokesman said.
‘Due to our privacy obligations we are unable to provide further comment.’
