Australian cricket great Michael Clarke sensationally claimed that an Olympic weightlifter was told he “could only eat two lamb chops” from the athletes’ buffet at the Paris Games.

Speaking on 2KY’s The Big Sports Breakfast, the former Test captain revealed that stars from multiple sports are said to be very unhappy with the food choices, which include meals with fake meat and non-dairy products.

“Teams are leaving the Olympic Village (because of living conditions),” Clarke said.

‘From what I’ve heard, the situation is out of control.

‘You work hard for three or four years for this moment… and now the athletes can’t sleep (because of bad beds).

‘Others can’t get food… a weightlifter was told he couldn’t eat more than two lamb chops… the guy weighs 120kg, if he wants 15 lamb chops, give them to him.’

Clarke applauded the teams and athletes who arranged accommodation elsewhere and at their own expense.

Meanwhile, Games organisers have bowed to pressure from athletes and ordered more than 700 kilos of eggs and a tonne of extra meat to replace vegetarian food in the Olympic village.

Athletes and teams have also had to endure a lack of air conditioning in their rooms, long walks to the cafeteria and overcrowded buses that often do not arrive on time.

The organizers of the Paris Games were determined to make these the most sustainable Olympics ever, prioritizing a green approach in almost every area.

However, the aggressive focus on being environmentally friendly has resulted in atrocious conditions for competitors striving for greatness in the French capital, meaning world records have been few and far between.

Others have called the Games “awake.”

Australian swimming queen Ariarne Titmus described the conditions as “ridiculous” and said they were a factor in her losing a chance at a world record in the 400m freestyle final.

“It probably wasn’t the moment I thought I was capable of, but living in the Olympic Village makes it difficult to perform,” he admitted in an interview on Sunday.

“It’s definitely not built for high performance, so it’s about who can really hold it together in the mind.”
