Australian coronavirus death toll rises to 64 after a man in his 70s died in Tasmania hospital
A man in his seventies died of coronavrius, bringing the death toll to 64 in Australia.
The 72-year-old died on Friday morning at Mersey Community Hospital in Latrobe, Tasmania.
He is the seventh person to die of the disease in Tasmania.
“This is another sad reminder that this disease costs lives, and we must do everything we can to stop the spread of the coronavirus,” said Prime Minister Peter Gutwein.
“I ask Tasmanians again to work with us, do the right thing, stay at home and save lives.”
Police of social disabilities has increased in the state after an outbreak occurred at two hospitals in Burnie. Both hospitals had to close.
Nearly 100 of the state’s 180 virus cases are linked to the hospital outbreak, including 60 workers.
