Australian basketball great Brad Newley has scored a major property win after putting his Adelaide investment property up for auction for a staggering $1,711,500.

Newley, 39, bought the elegant three-bedroom, two-bathroom townhouse in Malvern in 2008 for $750,000, leaving the former Olympian with $961,500 after sale.

Located just 4km from the CBD, the two-storey apartment features a beautiful open-plan layout and charming wood finishes.

Newley, who was born in Adelaide, bought the house 16 years ago before starting his basketball career, according to reports. The advertiser this week.

Telling the publication he was just a “young guy” when he purchased the home, the former Boomer explained that his father owned the land in the early 2000s.

“It was the first home I bought and it has been a very good investment. I also like to think that I have been a good owner over all these years,” he said.

Newley made headlines in the game after scoring 16 points.

He played for the Boomers, who won the gold medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.

The stocky star was chosen to play for the Boomers at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where he put in another impressive performance. He also represented Australia on the national team at the 2012 London Olympics.

In Australia, Newley played in the NBL for the Townsville Crocodiles and later for the Sydney Kings and Melbourne United.

He retired in 2023 after playing with teams in Europe and having his draft rights taken over by NBL teams in the US, including the New York Knicks.
