Australian basketball player Liz Cambage has been forced into isolation after testing positive for Covid-19.

The Los Angeles Aces confirmed that their 30-year-old young gun, which is based in the United States, was struck by the virus on Thursday morning.

“She has been fully vaccinated, has mild symptoms and will continue to isolate herself until she is cleared to play again under protocols,” the Aces said in a statement, referring to the WNBA’s Health and Safety Protocols.

There are only six games left in the Women’s National Basketball Association league with Cambage’s team due to the Chicago Sky showdown on Friday, but it is not yet known if the star player will attend.

Cambage currently holds the league’s single-game scoring record with a 53-point performance against New York Liberty in July 2018.

More recently, she withdrew from the Tokyo Olympics, citing mental health issues.

More to come.
