Australian athletic team forced to go into lockdown after positive Covid case in Olympic village
The Australian athletics team has been forced into self-isolation after being exposed to a positive case of Covid-19 in the Olympic village.
All 63 athletes of the Australian team have been locked in their hotel rooms after American pole vaulter Sam Kendricks tested positive for the virus.
The team will be tested for Covid-19 and their results will be ready in three to four hours, 7News reported.

The US Olympic and Paralympic Committee said Kendricks – a two-time world pole vault champion – has been placed in self-isolation and would withdraw from the games.
“We are saddened to confirm that Sam Kendricks tested positive for COVID-19 and will not be competing in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics,” a USOPC spokesperson said.
“In accordance with local rules and protocols, he has been transferred to a hotel for isolation and is supported by USATF and USOPC personnel.”
