Australia wins gold in men’s park skateboarding

Australia matches its best Olympic performance with the first-ever gold medal in park skateboarding – our second win in just a few minutes

Teen Keegan Palmer has won gold in the men’s park, becoming the first Australian to win an Olympic medal in skateboarding.

Born in the US and raised in Australia, Palmer produced an epic 95.83 with his final drive in the final to completely obliterate the opposition and secure Australia’s 16th gold medal at the Tokyo Games.

The 18-year-old was so dominant that the second highest of his three rides in the final – a 94.04 – would also have been good enough to win gold.

Brazilian Pedro Barros claimed silver with a score of 86.14, while American No. 2 Cory Juneau took bronze with 84.13.

Fellow Australian Kieran Woolley finished fifth with a best ride of 82.04.
