Austin Butler produces and stars as a ruthless crime boss in Sony Pictures’ big screen adaptation of City on Fire.
Four days after helping promote a Children’s Hospital Los Angeles fundraiser, Austin Butler signed on to produce his first-ever project with 3000 Pictures and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
The 31-year-old Golden Globe winner will star in a big-screen adaptation of Don Winslow’s 2022 novel City on Fire, which could be turned into a trilogy thanks to his upcoming novels City of Dreams and City in Ruins.
Austin will transform into Danny Ryan, a street soldier turned ruthless boss of an Irish-American crime family who fights with an Italian-American crime family for control of New England – starting in Rhode Island.
Butler’s character will have to face the police, federal agents, and the mafia in order to build his own dynasty or die trying.
City on Fire will reunite the Anaheim-born blonde with David Heyman, who produced Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 fantasy Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, in which Austin played Manson Family member Tex Watson.
