Australian tennis star Jelena Dokic has again been the target of online abuse, this time because some Instagram users objected to her business class travel while on vacation.
The former world number 4 is now a bestselling commentator and author who shines a light on the abuse and fights the trolls that once shamed her on social media.
Enjoying some free time, Dokic posted a stream of happy images from his recent trip to Europe.
“I had a great holiday but now it’s time to go home. Thanks to Croatia, it was absolutely amazing,” she said.
“I wanted to accomplish four things on this vacation: recharge and recuperate for my sanity, take care of myself and reflect, enjoy every moment as if it were the last, create incredible memories, truly love, cherish and be grateful. for what I have.
“And I can say that mission accomplished. And I’m so happy about it.
But not everyone shared in their happiness, with a group of disgruntled social media users complaining about images of their business class traveling.
“Too bad there isn’t that in the cattle class,” one wrote.
This image led a number of social media users to believe that Dokic was showing off by posting pictures of his business class flight experience.

Dokic took plenty of photos on vacation as she enjoyed Croatia’s crystal clear water and admired the local scenery.

Back home, Dokic posted a video on social media revealing that some people had privately messaged her criticizing her for “showing off” and not being “humble”.
“I posted some footage of a flight home from Europe, flying back to Australia in business class. A few people had a problem with it,” she said in the post.
“They didn’t like me going on vacation and coming back in business class. Apparently because I did and apparently because I posted some pics of it, now I’m apparently showing off and not being humble.
if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all
“Usually I don’t care what people say. In the past, I reacted strongly to body shaming… but not to other (forms of) abuse on social networks.
“I feel like I have to address this issue because it’s still social media abuse. Just on a different level.
“I think it’s very simple, if you don’t like what you see and you feel like you don’t like someone, you don’t have to follow them.
“I may not be everyone’s cup of tea and that’s okay.
“I think going further and leaving me comments and messages is just not necessary.
“I’m a firm believer that if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all,” she said.

Dokic was all smiles as she posed for a series of holiday photos she shared with her fans on social media

Dokic has previously been humiliated on social media and said it was another form of online abuse after he was humiliated for taking lavish vacations, including a business class flight.
Dokic received a lot of support for his video, with fans urging him to ignore the “haters” and live his best life.
“You, of all people, deserve the best Jelena, for setting an example to others with compassion and understanding! Disregard negative comments! Thank you for being such a positive and inspiring person,” one fan urged.
“Enjoy your business flight. It’s your money and you can spend it however you want. Your vacation snaps were amazing,” added another.
“If you can.. do business everyday.. enjoy every second and never apologize for it.. haters gonna hate.. and I just finished Bridget Jones too.. good choice,” another fan posted.
But his detractors are not done yet, with several negative comments having appeared on social media in response to his video.
“She loves the attention, otherwise she wouldn’t be posting on social media,” one posted.
However, they were quickly criticized by Dokic’s supporters.
“Envy is what produces such negative trolling. It is a form of bullying. And Jelena shouldn’t have to receive such garbage. She seems like a very nice person and she doesn’t deserve this bullshit,” a Dokic supporter shot back.
“Never mind the bad guys, their jealousy will never outweigh your quality and the fact that you are an amazing person. Tell them all to go jump,” added another.
